I recently got a database from a friend and i can open
it, but i have no permissions for anything. The
user "Admin" doesn't have any rights for the database. I
even joined my current workgroup, but still "Admin" has
no rights. I also noticed that in the Owner part of the
security there was no owner for anything. The database I
cannot get into is Access 2000 format, but I use Access
2002, maybe that has something to do with it? I just
want to get my admin rights back. Thanks!

"Rights" are stored in the MDB file itself. If the only user name you can
use to open the file is "Admin" and "Admin" doesn't have enough permissions
for what you need, then your friend will either need to send you a copy
where "Admins" does have enough permissions or send you an MDW file that
you can use to open the file logged in as another user with adequate
permissions.

Further to what Rick said: if the Owner of some object is blank (or
"(unknown)", or whatever it says), this means that the object is owned by a
user who does not exist in your workgroup file. So your friend has created a
new user, & that user owns the object(s) in question. But that user does not
exist in *your* workgroup file, so Access can not show you their user name.
