I have seti@home installed and would like to know how to get it to start
automaticlly when I log on. How is this done?
Do you have an icon for it in the sys tray? After you log on there
should be an icon for it there. If it is NOT there there may be a
registry entry missing.
When it is installed it puts an entry in the registry as follows:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value name = seticlient
Value Data = C:\Program Files\SETI@home\
[email protected] -min
That registry entry should activate it at start it up. It does not
need to have a shortcut in the startup folder.
If that registry value is NOT there then probably best to reinstall
the program as the lack of the registry item may not be the only thing
wrong.
The next thing is - do you want it to analyse data all the time or
only when the screen saver is activated or the window is maximised.
Right click on its icon in the Sys Tray and select "Preferences". Look
for:
"Data analysis runs only when screen saver
is active or application window is maximised"
"Data analysis always runs [recommended only for
fast computers with at least 64MB RAM]
Select whichever one you want. If you select the second, it will
analyse without any visual display.
