Hello group

Installed vista - but my grahpic card can't run aero so Vista has disable
this feature.

I bought a new card that should support vista aero - and it's arriving
tomorrow - but does vista turn on the aero features automatic once I
installed the new card - or do I have to do any adjustment in vista ? ?

Kind regards

re-run the index score and it will re-enable for you... there are other
ways, but this is the most fun

Just out of interest, does a new graphics card constitute a need to
re-activate. Or is there a certain limit, like there was with XP, before
activation becomes necessary?

Cheers

Just a new graphics card will not require reactivation...and, as you
suggest, there is a limit of the number of changes before you would
be required to reactivate. The changes that can occur, before that
requirement, are based on a 'weighted' scale, so many points for a
graphics card, other points for a new HDD, etc. I don't remember
the actual numbers, but that was addressed before in this newsgroup
with the numbers.

The hard drive is weighted heaviest in Vista. In XP it is the NIC. The OP
can change the video card as many times as he likes and if the only changes
are video cards it will not increase his liklihood of reactivation. Once
you change one hardware characteristic further changes to that
characteristic don't count until the next reactivation.
