There are at least two sizes of virus email involved 144 KB
and 156 KB. The senders email address will be changing, so
a blocked sender list will not stop these emails. A smart
spam filter probably will after a training program because
these spam programs use techniques to analyze the subject
lines, size, and attachment to move the email to a folder or
even delete it.
I use Hotmail for most of my public email and I only got
these phony ms emails on one account. Hotmail was putting
them all in the junk folder, but that does count towards the
2 MB storage limit for free Hotmail.
I just set Hotmail so bulk/junk mail is just deleted
automatically.
| If the size of the email is approx 144k, this may be the
virus going around
| that is posing as microsoft updates.... (the email really
isn't from
| microsoft) - if you install an antivirus program that
scans your incoming
| email, and keep the antivirus software updated...the
antivirus software
| should block the attachments for you..if you want to block
the emails
| altogether you can do this by putting the senders email
address in your
| block senders list.......its uder tools/message
rules/blocked senders
| list...
|
| Hope this helps
