At present I use (XP) getpivotdata function by selecting a cell, inserting =
then selecting the cell within the pivot table (the getpivotdata prefix
automatically appears with the cell reference, etc) for making calculations
with that cell or others within the table, however another computer I'm
networked to cannot use this function (2K). Please how do I switch this on?

In Excel 2000, you'll have to enter the GETPIVOTDATA function manually.
Check Excel's help for information -- the arguments are different from
those in Excel 2002.

Hi Debra, I am running Excel 2002 and have created the
GETPIVOTDATA function by selecting the cell in the pivot
table. All works well for me. Problem is other people
using Excel 2000 do not get the data in these cells. You
mention that in Excel 2000 you have to enter the
GETPIVOTDATA manually, if I do that will the function work
for Excel 2002? Do I need 2 versions of the spreadsheet,
one for 2000 and one for 2002 users?

Thanks
Pat

If you're using GetPivotData, you'll need different versions of the
formula for Excel 2000 and Excel 2002.

You could use programming to check for the version, and enter the
applicable formula.

Hi Debra, I have sucessfully created a formulat using the
GETPIVOTDATA in Excel 2002. The problem is other users
with Excel 2000, they don't get the data populating the
cells. You mention the differences between Excel 2000 &
2002. If I create the formula in Excel 2000 will it work
with 2002? Do I need 2 versions of the file, one for 2000
and one for 2002?

Thanks
Pat

Thanks Debra, got your reply to my previous post. I re-
posted because I couldn't find the original one. This
board seems a bit odd sometimes.
