I have a brand new Dell Dimension PC running Windows XP
Home edition. I recently followed a credible-looking
prompt to reload XP, which I did. Since then, however, on
starting the PC and on doing anything with Windows Media
Player, I get the error "Procedure Entry Point GetIUMS not
found in MSDART.DLL" or something similar. On such a new
PC, I had not expected any problems so soon. Is this a
known bug and, if so, are there any quick fixes that do
not entail downloading replacement files from the internet?
I also have a problem with my internet connection, which I
mention in case it is related. When on the internet,
after a while, I get an error message about a remote
something or other problem losing connection, saying that
my computer will have to restart and that I should close
all applications. I've stopped going onto the 'net as a
result.
