I need to get under the glass of my canon lide 35 scanner. It seems the
ribbon on the left side, that is attached on one end to the scanning
element, does not slide along quite right, and jams the scanner about
halfway through the scan. How do I get the glass off?

thanks much!

Hammer?

Yeah, that's about the only way to open it. I just got this email from
Canon... I have yet to try their "fix" but I am doubtful at best....

The scanner is not designed to have the glass removed by the user. It
may need to be reset. Please reset the scanner by following the listed
steps in this particular order:

1. Take the USB cable off the scanner and the computer.
2. Turn your computer completely off.
3. Lock and unlock the scanner several times, leaving the scanner in the
unlock position.
4. Turn your computer back on.
5. Once the computer is completely booted, reconnect the USB cable and
try scanning again.

If the cable is still in the way, then the scanner will require service.

Huh? That does not make much sense.
