I am a "brand new" XP user. I am devouring books, reading newsgroups, etc.,
to learn about XP.

Basic question: Can XP be setup and run as a Single Person standalone PC,
without having the various User Folders etc that seem to proliferate? Even
though I am the only one who will ever use this PC, under C:/document and
settings I see folders for:

administrator
all users
default users
Ed
local service
network service

I just want the cleaneast, easiest to maintain setup.

Thanks for helping a beginner!

Ed, that's as clean as it gets for a single user setup.

Administrator is the built in account that you want to keep for
troubleshooting purposes. All Users will be sought out by some installers
instead of using your personal folders. Default Users is a template used to
create new accounts. A good one to have around if your everyday account
becomes corrupt and you want to create a new one. Local Service and Network
Service will be used by XP and your programs to perform certain functions.

Ed is your account and I don't think I need to explain that one. :)
