Hello,
When ever I ping for a workstation it always points to old IP. How do I get
rid of an IP address that was registered in DNS entry before?
How do I get rid of an IP address (10.10.1.1) that got auto assigned for
DHCP?
Thanks
Kris

What kind of server <2000/2003,?>, what kind of zone <Primary, Secondary, AD
integrated>, what kind of record <A>? What happens when you select the
record and click delete? What are the additional properties of the record?

I've had this before, turned out the previous IT wannabe had placed manual
entries in the HOST file.

I would think that you would look at the lease of the IP address. Nothing in
a ipconfig is going to help you. If you release and renew your address and it
comes back to the same address then it becomes a matter of the DHCP server
lease.

Sean,
Did try that before...no avail....

Besides just manually clicking on the record and hitting the 'delete' key,
check WINS, if you are using WINS. Neil brought up the fact that it can also
exist in a hosts file, or even an lmhosts file. Check that as well.

Thanks all.
10.10.1.1 is from my second nic which I now disabled it.
After that everything is cool now.

Multihomed machines are known to cause issues if misconfigured.

Kris,

Go to the DNS console, drill down to your domain and delete the bogus
listing. Then set DNS to scavenge old records every few days (server
properties, advanced tab). Clear the WINS database as well.
