When I launce my web browser IE 6, I often get a red x
where the picture or graphic should have loaded. I don't
know what is causing this. Can anyone help?

Try Internet Explorer/Tools/Options/Advanced and scroll down to "Show
pictures" click it to put in a check mark.
Hope this does it.
Dave

My firewall settings were too severe. It thought there was
a SYN attack underway. When I loosened them, the red x's
went away.
