get my pics back from formatted hdd

help! can i get my photos back after my hdd has been formatted? i have a 80
gig hdd and tried to install a second hdd but it was only 15 gig( for
backup).computer didnt like it.Crashed big time. i took out the 15gig hdd and
rebooted but computer didnt register that i had a C drive.i gave it to my
mate to fix and he formatted c drive with my approval because i had backed
up my files on cds but now find that i cant get my pictures. im looking at
all my options including data recovery for cds but i want to know if its
possible to retrieve my files after the hdd has been formatted? can anyone
help? priceless photos that i dont want to lose
 
Hi dx kid,

Put your hard disk into another computer as a slave and try Easy Recovery
from a company called On Track, I have used the lite version that can only
retrieve 25 files per session but was amazed at what it could retrieve.
