System running XP Professional. It was running fine
until two weeks ago. Until I installed a program that
made the system hang during bootup. After hours in
trying to recover I had to reintall XP. I resintalled
over the previous install. System boots now. Restored
my wife's data (except her *.pst outlook files. which I
forgot to backup) and installed Office Standard. Here's
the problem:

How do I recover my wife's old email and contacts?

I had to give her a new logon name (XP). Now when the
system boots it just has her new logon. I can see her
old logon name in the C:\Documents and Settings folder on
the C: drive. I tried a search *.pst on the harddrive
and cannot find anthing.

Ohh. I am in the dog house because my wife is a school
teacher and needs her address book to email a welcome
note to the parents. She also wants to keep in contact
with previous students parents. But without her contact
list she is helpless.

pst files are hidden files, you have to search to include hidden.
Once found you may have to 'take possession' of the file; see winxp help
Open the pst, in OL, try to avoid importing
Make a copy of any pst you find, prior to manipulating it, to ensure the
roof remains on yr kennel.
Do not overwrite any pst.
