Get applications to run Virtual PC 2007

I have Vista Ultimate and have got an XP Pro copy to run virtually (fully
updated with SP2 service packs).

My problem is that I cannot use my CD drive to load programs that haven't
been updated to run in Vista.
I went into settings, and saw that a secondary function was chosen, I
unselected it and went to primary. I can read the disc in the windows
explorer, I just cannot launch any of the setup applications.

I also have an issue where some of the hardware (USB ports) are not made
available in my Virtual Platform.

---can they be made available? (to be able to print from the programs
running virtually?)

Understanding of the virtual platform is improving, but still a novice and
learning.

Thanks,
Adam

I have found out through reading other posts, that the USB ports are not made
available in VPC 2007.

My original question still applies in getting the CD to install programs
that are not vista compatible....

thanks,
Adam

If you right-click on the setup.exe of whatever, left-click Properties and
choose Compatibility from across the top tabs.
Then install in say XP SP2 mode.
