Just remember since Beta 1 is obsolete, updates may stop soon.
I expect that to happen no later than July, the expiration date of Beta 1.
Prepare accordingly.

I really see no reason to install an obsolete Beta of any kind.
Since Beta is for testing and Beta 1 has been replaced I would use Beta 2 or
nothing.
As always I suggest using multiple spyware tools so I use SpyBot, Ad-Aware
and Windows Defender.

OK, took me all day to find it, and defender has way to many bugs in it at
this point, and microsoft took the download off of their site, but you can
get the old reliable (as reliable as a product can be from microsoft) heren

Thanks and well done.I had been looking for a while.
If anybody wants to know why it is necessary to reinstall MSAS,i will tell
you.
It is not possible to initalize WD on this computer(W 2000,SP4)
I appears as if quite a lot of people have the same problem.

Hi, Jupiter Jones!

The problem is that many of us are having substantial problems running
Windows Defender (Beta 2). The newsgroups are no longer set up to accept
suggestions for improving the product, so what else are we to do when Windows
Anti-Spyware (Beta 1) ran so much better than Defender does?

Just a quick list of reasons why I removed Windows Defender after two days:

- No summary of what has been found while the scan is running
- No notice about the progress of updates being downloaded or installed
- It makes my computer a SLUG when copying folders with lots of pictures
(which I do A LOT!). And yes, I do know that it's Windows Defender, because
my computer was still sluggish when I disabled Norton, and wasn't sluggish
anymore when I removed Defender.
- No way I could find to temporarily disable the real-time scan

So unless Microsoft engineers are able to go back to something almost like
what they had with WAS (Beta 1), I'm sticking with other programs once Beta 1
expires.
