Gently fade in/out "feature"

Where can I find how to turn off the fade in/out feature for XP menus etc. ?
Using Windows classic view etc, not the XP enhanced.
I really have looked everywhere I can think of :-)

Display Properties> Appearance> Effects: Uncheck the box next to "use the
following transition effects" or choose one that you prefer.

Another place that made need adjusting is in System properties> Advanced>
Performance> Settings> Visual effects. Review the various offerings in this
section. Uncheck any you do not want. "Adjust for best performance" will
make a selection very near to the classic Windows settings (vs the
trimmings from the XP style alternative).
