Hello...

Can someone briefly explain what a newsreader program is? I am able to
access this forum but I apparently am not using such a program. What I am
doing seems to have a bit of an 'alighnment' issue...could switching to such
a program fix that 'problem' and is there other benefits to it? Will the
newsreader program be separate or connected to a "Windows Mail" program that
I have?

Thanks for taking the time to read this entry. Any and all responses are good.
Bye.
SC

Windows Mail is a newsreader. Newsgroups send, receive and store messages
differently than email so newsreaders are different from email clients. Some
newsreaders are separate programs that are not also email clients. Since
Windows Mail is a newsreader and since this newsgroup is for Windows Mail,
it would be best if you ask your other questions about newsreaders in
another group or forum.

As for the alignment problem, that might be the result of your space
travels. As far as I know, the experts in this newsgroup are not Space
Cadets and are not familiar with mis-alignment caused by space travels.

Hi, SC.

Just click here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

That one click should:

1. Start your default newsreader. Yes, you have one if you have Vista;
it's called Windows Mail and it includes both email and news functions.
Unless you've installed a different program, WM is your default - for which
THIS newsgroup provides user-to-user support.

2. Create a News Account for you on the Microsoft public news server, a
part of Usenet, which is free and does not require you to log on.

3. Connect you to THIS newsgroup.

4. Download the 300 latest messages here - the SAME messages you've been
reading in the web interface.

5. Display the newest post in the Reading Pane for you.

After some time to explore, click Tools | Options and customize WM to suit
the way you like it. And check out the other buttons on the Menu Bar to see
other choices you can make, such as the View menu.

Many of us prefer the Newsreader format over the Discussion Groups.
