This will be a general question. How does the performance in the RTM
compare with the performance of RC2 (build 5744)? Performance was
generally good and in some cases faster in RC2 than XP, but some other
areas were slower, especially Windows Media Player 11 where mfpmp.exe
ate a lot of CPU resources (up to 10%) and DWM also ate a lot of CPU
resources when WMP11 was running for some reason. (up to 15%) Total
CPU usage averaged between 20% and 30% with no visualizations running
when WMP was playing music. Thanks.
Specs (Windows Experience Index - 4.0 on RC2):
AMD Sempron 64 (socket 754) 2800+ 256KB L2 cache OC'd @ 2GHz; stock is
1.6GHz (4.0 WEI)
1.5GB PC-2700 RAM (4.3 WEI)
Ati Radeon X1600 Pro AGP 8x 256MB GDDR2 video card (4.4 for graphics and
4.8 for gaming graphics)
WD 120GB 7200RPM 8MB cache IDE HD (2 60GB partitions - one holds Vista
RC2) (5.0 WEI)
WD 80GB 7200RPM 2MB cache IDE HD (XP)
