The problem occurred right from the beginning of
installing Windows 2000 Pro. With every other OS I've had
I've never had this problem:

When running general applications such as Media Player or
Explorer, the system freezes for about 3 seconds before it
opens and continues normally. This also happens if I
minimise a window, everything stops for 2 - 3 seconds and
then continues. I also have trouble with the mouse,
Unlike other OS's I've had such as ME and XP where the
mouse is smooth and precise, in 2000 its slow and jittery,
the problem gets worse when opening the smallest of
programs, i.e. calculator. I've tried different drivers
and lowering hardware acceleration but nothing has made
any difference apart from increased level of aggravation.

Windows also take a good 8 minutes loading before I can do
anything on it, while on XP and ME it was instant. I've
removed any unneeded services and start up programs with
some, but not very noticeable effect.

Any solutions offered to any of these issues would be
greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

If you're sure that you're virus free, something is probably running in the
background. Do you know how to investigate that?
