Hello friends !

I have a GeForce 7300LE graphic card and I use Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.
I've bought a new computer with an Intel Dual Core 6400, @ 2.13 GHZ , 2GB RAM.

A very good system for playing games, and this wonderful pc is a gift to my
son.

He would like to play the follwing games:
Call of Duty
Lord of the Rings I
Lord of the Rings II
Half Life

For some reason, you can play the games only with the lowest resolution
800x600.
If you want to increase the resolution, the image is flickering and
sometimes it stuck completly. I could find out, that the performance from the
graphic card is to slow, so it's not possible to play these games.

Nvidia's support told me, we can't help you anymore. You have to get sure,
that you have the newest driver installed. I did, but the problem is still
there.

Now, I am wondering and asking myself: Maybe the graphic card is not
compatible with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit system.

By the way:
I've bought the whole system at Best Buy, and I didn't touch the hardware.
It's this computer here:

Maybe someone can help me out here, would be great.
Thank you for every little help,
Bernhard

I don't know about the LE, but the 7300 does work with Vista.
However, it's not as fast as I would like, so I promptly replaced it with an
8800.
What a difference! The Vista hardware rating (Computer Properties) went up
to 5.9 (max).

Agreed. 7300 LE is not one of those high performance cards. I have the same one installed, and the Win SAT rating for Gaming is rated @ 2.7 which is very low.

Aha, so my Graphic Card is not the best. Okay, so which one would you suggest
for playing the games, and where I can see if the graphic card is compatible
with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit ?

Thank you so much and best greetings,
Bernhard

Hello Bernhard,

Sorry, I don't have any data on the list of games vs recommended video cards. Perhaps you can post this question in windows.vista.games group. I'm sure that would attract more posts. Also note that NVIDIA is issuing updated drivers every now and then, and that can have an impact on performance and also the WinSAT scores for gaming graphics.
