Can someone please explain to me why my computer should start up differently
on different occasions.
I have a Samsung V20 laptop with XP home on it and sometimes when it is
booting up the icons take a long time - most of the boot-up time - changing
from the default to the custom format and at other times they all change
within a second or two. I have been assuming that the reason for this is
that my McAfee Anti-virus is checking the HD but why only sometimes if it
checks the HD on every start up?
Another thing that happens about 50% of the time is that the McAfee
Spamkiller fails to start and I have to start it in My Computer > Manage >
Services
Again about 50% of the time - thought no necesserily the same 50% - the
settings on my Outlook Experss default to 127.0.1.0 or whatever the setting
are where it is looking back at itself are. I read somewhere that this can
be caused by McAfee changing the settings so I disabled McAfee checking
emails but it still happens.
I could understand it if I had corrupt files and these things happened ALL
the time but, as I said. it happens only about 50 % of the time - sometimes
everthing is OK for days at a time then suddenly it will be back again

Thank you for any help,
Sandy
