will this exploit effect anything other than the "applies to" section?
Furthermore are these products that are listed in "applies to" going to have
a specific update? And like where?
The Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool is certainly not an "exploit".
All it does is detects certain software that may have security updates
available. This eliminates the need to manually check your software
for available security updates.

The GDI+ flaw may be found in other products as well (non-Microsoft
products).
