After installing Windows XP Professional SP1a found in
MSDN cd-s

I experienced the following error:
When setting the hardware acceleration tool of the video
card to maximum a blue screen appears with the following
Technical information:

0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xBF875FC3, 0xB8D85FB8, 0x00000000)

win32k.sys - Addres BF875FC3 base at BF800000

datestamp 3d6de5e5

I found the description at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;330187
It says that I need a new copy of win32k.sys
Where can I get this win32k.sys file?

Thank you

See the line, "... contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the
fix."? You have to call them to let them release it to you. I believe it
is a tech support call so they start out by making you think you will get
charged for the call, but if you can qualify to the tech rep that you do
indeed need the unreleased patch then you don't get charged. When I had to
do this, they gave me a link on their FTP server to yank the patch file.
