Dave,

No. I went back to look and I have installed every security or other
update, except the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130). I
did a search on the website and nothing came up. Could you give me the link?

The version of GDI+ that I have is the same one you discuss in your response.

Also, I wanted to make sure that you understood my problem is that when I go
to install Defender Beta 2, the error states that I have not installed GDI+,
even though I have. When I click the "OK" button, I have to "Finish" the
installation of DB2, which then kicks me out without completion.

Isn't there a simple fix to this problem?

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=915052

describes where to get the correct GDI+ version, and how and where to
install it. Is that the process you used?

This error message can also arise if the permissions on that file are too
restrictive, on an NTFS filesystem. That can happen if the file is moved
rather than copied between folders.

I'm surprised you made it this far because the GDIplus as well as Windows
Defender require that you validate using WGA.
Try this link then pick Windows Validation, however my WGA update was
installed using Microsoft/Windows Update back in May. Since then it's been
pretty much a non-problem, basically clicking a button when any new program
versions that need validation are released:

http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.mspx?displaylang=en

there's also a direct download here that will require a re-boot after
install if you go that route. I'd try the above method first:

Windows Genuine Notification is not the Validation tool and is not yet
required as a Critical update.
