I recently installed Gdata2006 and it works well it seems.Kav & Bitdefender
mixture..My question is with a mixture of both engines wouldn't it slow your
system down?.I had been running CA E-Trust before that and my machine ran
faster and responded better with that antivirus installed.Any input? Thanks

Does the 2006 version allow you to select the Kaspersky scan engine
alone? I tried a trial download, but it was labled as a 2005 version.
That one does allow for the single scan engine option ... which you
might try just to see if it seems to make any difference. My guess is
that you'll subjectively notice little or no difference one way or
the other. But try it and see, assuming the option is available on the
2006 version.

The 2005 trial default realtime monitor settings seemed ok to me. The
scanner is set to treat files according to their type (not by file
extension) which is a fast scanning option and a "smart" scan setting.
Also, archive scanning is enabled, which is a good idea. Certain
executeable file types (such as .CHM) are probably not scanned
otherwise.

I noticed no slowdown or sluggishness on my 1.8 mhz PC with 256 meg
RAM. However, I didn't install the email scanner portion. Scanning
email is unnecessary, and it can bog your realtime monitor
down. So that would be my only suggestion. Disable email scanning
and see if that makes a difference on your machine.
