I have a DC running W2K server. I recently looked at my
Task Mgr and saw that my CPU usage was running at close to
100%. When I checked on the processes running, I noticed
a process "gcasSWUpdater.exe was consuming close to 80% of
the processor. Is this normal? I had a hard time finding
out any information about this process. Can I "end task"
it without it causing any major problems?

Yes, it is a MSAS process, to fix the CPU 100% issue, apply this fix:
Update VB v6 service Patch 6 using the following link...

or upgrade to the latest build:
