I'm a bit startled by your description--what is it about this window
appearing that interferes so effectively with the use of your machine?

I'd uninstall the beta, given that effect. I'm pretty sure that a new build
which won't have this issue will be available fairly soon, so you'll be able
to reinstall the new build and see if it does better for you.

But do say what the effect is--'cause maybe there's more to this than just
the little window?

When I start up my computer, the box pops up. Half a
second later, it disappears, and reappears. It almost
never fully loads itself. It will then start giving
"program is not responding" messages, in the dozens, which
I then have to close. This takes up 100% of my CPU, and I
am not able to do anything else while this is happening.
If I do manage to open another application, it will pop up
in front of that and force me to try to close it. Which is
impossible, because it remains there even after closing.
Ending the process doesn't work either, the process just
restarts. If I try to use the computer with this happening
for about 2-3 hours, it will "give up" and go away. Does
this happen to everyone? AntiSpyware hardly seems worth it.

This doesn't happen to everyone. There have been 10's of millions of
downloads of Microsoft Antispyware, and although you'll read lots of issues
in these groups, if these issues were noted by even a small fraction of
those users, we'd be swamped.

I may be giving up too easily, but I think in your case, I'd advise
uninstalling the beta version, and waiting for another build to be
distributed before testing it further. I don't believe you'll be without
protection for very long.

If you want to give it a last chance, uninstall, delete the folder in which
it was installed (typically c:\program files\microsoft antispywer) and
reinstall. See whether the behavior is improved.
