Does MSantispy protect against Gator?

It will certainly detect any attempt by Gator to install: the user is given
the choice whether to block it or not.

It will also detect Gator files during a scan: if it offers to "Ignore"
them, the user can choose to select "Remove".

.
Not always because coincidentally earlier today I
upgraded my McAfee and it found Gator in My Favorite
Places. (I had never put it there)I ran Microsoft
AntiSpyWare before I had McAfee remove it, and
MSAntiSpyWare never detected it.

.Hi there
I am not "MS bashing" I in fact like MS very much...it is
a fact as I said earlier, I personally experienced this
myself earlier today. I did not istall it or add to "My
favorite Places" MS did not detect it...McAfee did.

If it was in "My Favorite Places" then it was not spyware at all. Anything
in "My Favorite Places" will just be a URL link. Maybe McAfee complains
about URL links to dodgy web sites, but that hardly constitutes malware in
the sense of something that can damage your PC or operating system.
