I am wondering if there is software to accomplish this:

gathering all of my files that relate to a particular subject consisting of
Word documents, emails, newsgroup messages, url links; putting them into one
large file (or whatever one would call it (a book?), making a table of
contents for myself and indexing it by subject.

If this is not a topic for this newsgroup, could you help out with another
newsgroup that I might direct this query to?

Thanks,
Dee

I've used a program called InfoTree for quite a few years. It is a
freestyle database tool that accepts many different kinds of data. I find
the two paned explorer-like view comfortable to use. Most important, I find
it easy to relocate info when I need it: www.nextword.com

I'm a basic Word user but suspect some of its advanced features would
augment a project like this. The new One Note could be a good choice for a
project of this type too.
