gateway?

Hi, what can be the gateway? a computer with an OS(win 2000) can configure
as a gateway? thanks.

LL...

You have a house. Around the house is a fence. The only way out of the
yard is to use the gate, in the fence. That is your gateway. It is a
portal outside your local subnet. You can have multiple gateways (multiple
gates in your fence) but you can have only one DFG (default gateway) (main
gate you normally use).

If you have two NIC in a computer and one NIC connects to an xDSL router and
the other connects to a hub and it is running ICS (Internet Connection
Sharing - the NIC, not the hub), then all other computers will use the ICS
NIC as the DFG so they too can access the Internet.
