Channel surfing and on HSN, they had a Gateway, quad core, 3 gigs of RAM,
500 gig HD, 19 inch monitor, dual layer dvd burner, and maybe other stuff I
forgot, but it was $1300 (cost + s&h).

was there a question in there someplace or are you just advertising
for them???

Must have had too much Christmas "cheer". Especially posting it in the
pc-homebuilt newsgroup.

Ahhhhhh, so offensive to post that. I was expecting a comment like it sucks
or does not suck, etc. Most here are focused on dual core.

I love to see college kids post.

But you didn't ask a question, you mereley posted what you saw on the telly
as a fact.

Gateway's the reason I follow this newsgroup. Purchased a P4 when
they were first released and hard drive failed within 3 months. Modem
got hit by lightning which took out the mobo. Gateway wanted more to
repair than the computer originally cost. I decided to try building
my own and have been doing so since.

But you didn't ask a question

That is why there is gray matter between your ears, to figure out what to
say, have an opinion, rather than post something obvious.

Have you heard of Kreskin ? He's a famous mind reader...
Maybe he knows which model you're referring to.

OK, this is it. No graphics card. Big ass monitor.
Not such a great deal, as you'll need a graphics card
on top of the purchase price.

Your're right, too tough for some to kick in the ol' grey matter.

I like the pic though and do remember him.

I did not have a repair problem but it is odd that when my brother bought a
gateway in December of the late 90's. it was the fastest machine on the
planet but by summer, it was a slow piece of crap.

What surprised me is everyone here is focused on dual core and sometimes
single core but they had a quad core for what seems like a decent price.
