Yes please, help required to use message rules to sort mail into different
login accounts.
I am using Vista, Windows mail and we are on the same computer.
I have missed a generation. I have gone straight to Vista from Win 98.
So please keep as straight forward as poss. Thanks.

Message Rules are under the Tools menu item. For advice see:

For sample rules see

Please do not change the subject line when replying, because now I am
unable to refresh my memory by retrieving your previous message.
Due to the volume of posts here, I can't memorize the details of
everyone's problem statement.

I'm going to assume that the following meets your needs:
You will need to go into Tools > Message Rules > Mail > New,
and the wizard will guide you through the creation of a new message
rule. You should wind up with two rules looking something like this:

1. Where the message is from the 'His' account
move it to the Husband folder
and stop processing more rules.

2. Where the message is from the 'Her' account
move it to the Wife folder
and stop processing more rules.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, and thanks, But am I right in understanding that this will only
filter within
the user account into separate folders where mail is received, and won't
filter
between user accounts unless I "forward it" in a rule? If I do I still get a
copy.

Right, as written the rules only separate by account.
You could make the rules do more by adding additional conditions,
such as the person's name in the 'To' or 'CC' line.

I can't believe that a simple filter instruction can't be done between two
separate user accounts at this age of technological "know-it-all" can't be
resolved.

I tried all sorts of different rules. but have not quite found what "I" see
to be the simplest formulae. Thanks for your help Gary if you have any more
suggestions, much appreciated.

It is not totally clear what you are trying to separate, do you want all
mail to go to both User Accounts? Or just one address to go to each UA?

To achieve this you have to leave them on the server so that they can be
available for each UA.

If they are different addresses like (e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed)
then only have the respective mail account on each UA.

To configure WM to leave messages on the server:
You need to set all email accounts to leave messages on the server, that
way the messages will be available when you check it in either Vista User
Account.
To do this tools>accounts>select account>properties>advanced>set a number of
days to keep them on the server

On *one* of the Vista User Accounts you need to *also* select and set a
number of
days to delete them from the server, to suit your usage, or your mail box
will fill up.

HTH?

Both are using the same domain with our names changed,
Or have I got the idea that we have created separate email accounts and that
they would be independent?
Are these separate accounts?
Or is it best to get a web mail account, and as you say and use this in
respective UA

My wife and I just want separate e mail accounts that's all!!

It is likely that they are aliases for the same mailbox on the Server, but
you would have to check with your mail supplier to be sure.
