Garden shrubs

Has anybody got any idea what the bush / shrub below might be called ? It is in a garden in Cardiff if region helps.

looks like a privet hedge that's never been trimmed, maybe a member of the Dogwoods.




did it have any little white flowers all over it ... cut off and take a pick of a stem & leaves, your pic is a bit distant. Take a cutting to a good garden center.

My immediate thought was Escallonia.
