I have tried to insert a picture in word beside some text but it seperates
the text into 2 paragraphs ie. there is a gap between the top half of the
text and the bottm half. How can I insert the picture beside the text
without leaving a space between the texts bottom and top half. TIA

Hi PWB

double click on the picture, choose the layout tab, click the advanced
button and then choose the text wrapping tab - you can change it to whatever
you like in here.

If double clicking the picture doesn't bring up these options, try right
mouse clicking on it and choosing format / picture.

Hope this helps.

Is the text above the picture and below it, but not next
to it. By default pictures are inserted inline with text,
which means in effect that they are handled as large
letters. If you want text next to the picture you
propbably want word wrapping. Click the picture, then
click Format > Picture (or object). In the resulting
dialog box click the Layout tab, and click Square. Click
the advanced tab, then the Text Wrapping tab. Click the
radio button for Right Only (or whatever you need), set
how far the text is to be from the picture, etc. There
are many options, so experiment if my solution does not
give you the needed result. An alternative to text
wrapping in some cases is at the Layout tab to click In
Front of Text (or Behind Text). This makes the picture
independent of the text, although you may need to click
Picture Position (after clicking Advanced at the Layout
tab) and clear the check box for Move Object With text. A
picture attaches itself to a paragraph, and if you move or
delete the paragraph the picture will follow.
