gaming problems

playing games like Diablo II or Counter-Strike...using lan cords work fine with Windows XP. But if you try to play these games and other ones with wireless adapters, I experience lag spikes

example
Im playing counter-strike, my ping around 50 (good ping). then out of no where my screen would freeze and my ping is around 4000, same goes for Diablo II. i havent tried any other games yet...just wondering if anybody has a solution to this
