Gaming monster"!!!

Im finalising components to make a fire breathing games pc, these are the
parts i [think i] want 4 various reasons;

Mobo; Asus a7n8x Del 2.0
Case; Chenbro or Antec Sonata
CPU; Barton core [AMD 2500/2600]
GPU; 9800PRO / 9700PRO
HardDrive; Sata 80GB+ Western Digital SE prb.
RAM; 1GB [twin banked] Corsair premium prob, or OCZ plat.
PSU; A good one!?!

Thing is, i want the a7n8x del, coz its features r pretty much exactley
what i need,

but the a7n8x FSB wont go far past 200fsb [or so ive been reading, pls
prove me wrong] so im guessing 433 Ram is pointless?

If so, would pushing pc3200 ram over 400 with a "stuck" 400fsb work well?

or maybe pushing the fsb and ram as far as they each will go?

if not how will i get 433RAM to work with 400FSB well?

i just dont know what to get, 400DDR, 433DDR??? a diff mobo!?!?

sorry if this seems like madman stuff, but due to the holyfield fight i
havent slept for over 24hrs...

See my post below about the K8V and AMD64 if you really want a gaming
monster!!!

No, no, no - you want an Epox 8RxAx .... easily the best o/c'ing mobo's,
with V-dd adjustable up to 2 volts.
I could only get my 1700 DUT up to 217 x 10 on the NF7-S2 (V-dd maxed at
1.7v), but on my Epox 8RGA+ it runs at 222 x 10.5.

Q
----------
Epox 8RGA+ Rev 2.0
NB lapped + fanned
SB lapped + Zalman passive
Voltages : 2.025-core / 2.0-dd / 2.9-dimm / 1.5-agp
XP1700+ DUT3C - 222 x 10.5 (2330 MHz) Volcano 9+
2 x 256 OCZ PC3700 - 7 3 3 2 Sync Dual
Gigabyte Radeon 8500 DL – 308/600 32CFM
Maxtor DM9Plus (8MB) – fanned
Vantec Nexus 4-channel fan control
Air - Idle 44/56 Load

Case; Chenbro or Antec Sonata
CPU; Barton core [AMD 2500/2600]
GPU; 9800PRO / 9700PRO
HardDrive; Sata 80GB+ Western Digital SE prb.
RAM; 1GB [twin banked] Corsair premium prob, or OCZ plat.

You'll find given your A7nDlx is a revision 2.0 you should be able to get it
to 220 FSB
Also that the Antec Sonata comes with an Antec True380W PSU
433 ram ... you will gain benefit from it... either run lower latency at
lower freq. and/or running your FBS/MEM in sync past 200

I can get 220MHz with 5-2-2-2 using Corsair 1024 XMS3200LL at 2.7V
If so, would pushing pc3200 ram over 400 with a "stuck" 400fsb work well?

Nah - keep ram and FSB in synch.
or maybe pushing the fsb and ram as far as they each will go?

Yeah - keep them in synch.

Nah, keep them in synch (see a pattern forming :-)

The Abit NF7-S is rated highly.

Not at all.

I have the A7N8X Deluxe Rev2.0 - I'd set my mind on it before discovering
too much out about the NF7-S. If I had the choice again I would still go
with the Asus for the features it provides. Performance-wise I don't think
the differences are significant.

I am also suitably impressed by my RAM and would make the same purchase
again.

I went with the 9800 Pro (from Crucial)

The Radeon 9700 Pro is incompatible with DX9. So if you're planning on
playing Half Life 2 or Doom 3 on your "gaiming monster" I'd get the 9800
Pro. They require DX9.

According to the ATI web site, the 9700 PRO has full DX 9 support.

The rest are pretty good, esp if you OC your Barton and your 9700/9800pro
:)

If you have enuff money, there's no reason to go skimpy on a PSU. That will
save you from a lot of future problems.

Good luck on your setup!! I wish I have that kind of money for upgrading.
Hell, I ain't upgrading untill 2005 :)

That's completely incorrect - the 9700 Pro is completely DX9 compatible and
compliant. A better card for a top gaming machine would be the 9800XT.

Thanx for all the reply's, there are very helpful.

i would get an XT, but the "normal" pro version is much cheaper and jus a
bit slower a think.

Im not sure what you've heard but ive got a A7n8x Dlx and i can take my fsb
but to 300 so i dont see any problems there.

You mean the settings are there in the BIOS.

I very much doubt the FSB would run at 300MHz DDR and actually work
reliably.

With all the money you got fighting Holyfield you can probably build any
system you want;)
