I have windows xp pre-loaded on my new computer. My
grandson likes to play Tonka garage and Candyland and I
used to be able to run it on my old computer. Now my
message says I have to change to 256 colors. Windows xp
doesn't have that. It had 16 bit and 32 bit color. It
also tells me I have to have windows 95. How do I get
windows xp to be compatible?

Go to the icon that starts the the application (Not on
the desktop, that is just a shortcut, to get to it you
right click on the desktop icon you want and then
properties and then 'Find target') and right-click on it.
Then, click properties and go to the "Compatabiliy' tab.
Check the box saying "Run this program in compatability
mode', and select the windows system the window version
is meant to run under(It sounds like 95 for those apps.).
This should fix your problem, good luck!
