Games won't even start!

I recently bought "Spider-Man 2: The Game," and after a couple minutes of flawless gameplay, the game crashes. Not a single error message pops up on the screen. After attempting to restart the game, an error message appears stating the game has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. The same problem happens when I try to play "Unreal Tournament 2003." I am certain that all of my system drivers are up to date but I am still simply baffled at why this keeps happening. I would really appreciate it if someone could help.

For starters, make sure you've got nothing else running, virus scanners etc.
Also make sure you've got the latest motherboard chipset drivers, a lot of
people often overlook them.

Sounds like some file or registry entry has been corrupted. The
problem which file? Since you are able to navigate through the OS
without any trouble, I'm guessing it's related to Direct3D. So one
trick I would do is reinstall DirectX over on top of itself, then
reinstall the video card drivers (same exact driver).

Yes. That would be my hypothesis too. You'll need to do something to
address the crashing issues too. Typically games crashing after a few
minutes of play are caused by:

1.) Heat issues
2.) drivers (video card and/or motherboard chipset)
3.) Game patches
4.) Power supply.

You might want to verify that your display drivers and motherboard chipset
drivers are up to date. Then check to see if there are any patches for your
games.

Once you've done that start looking at heat issues if you're still
experiencing crashes. Clean out any dust bunnies from inside the case.
Make sure case fans are working properly and cables are not blocking
airflow. Leave the first PCI slot below the AGP card free to prevent heat
buildup.
