Games/Quizzes in PPT

Hiya....any suggestions would be great.

I have found some of those Jeopardy powerpoint templates on the web, and I
was going to use it in one of my classes as a game for the kids. I wanted to
divide the class (15 students) into 3 groups. I was going to hook up the
computer to the television, and then hookup three keyboards to the keyboard
(one for each group).

My problem is that I can't figure out a way to assign a key to each team so
they can "ring in" first. The only thing I've come up with so far is that if
you hit the slide number and ENTER at the same time it goes to that slide.
So I made three main slides, one for each team, and their "ring in" key could
be "1+ENTER" for example...then I would know who rang in first. The problem
with this is if they hit ENTER first by mistake (or on purpose), they'll
change the slide instead.

Any ideas on how to make the "A" key do the same thing by itself?

Thanks!

Why do they have to use PowerPoint to "ring in"? Give them real bells or use
three different doorbells with large buttons or the like. Be sure they will
like that more than pressing a keyboard button. Making "noise" is great fun
for kids of any age.

If it has to be PowerPoint: Put three shapes of different colors
(rectangles, circles, whatever you like) on the slide an assign trigger
animations to them, so that the shape clicked is changing color and the
other two are covered up with shapes without triggers, so that they can't be
clicked any more. You can also assign a sound to it, if you like.

Best regards,
Ute

FWIW - I found out on the game I developed and use
(http://www.pttinc.com/ppgame.htm) is that if it is set up to run just like
the game on TV one team dominates the entire thing making it useless for the
other two teams. Since I usually use it as a review tool, I rotate the
teams who choose to give everyone a chance. If Team 1 gets it wrong and
Team 2 gets it right, Team 2 still gets the next question, etc. This way
you can still have a winner.

Thanks Ute....

Is there a way to assign them using keys on the keyboard (each team gets one
key), rather than clicking on the shape?

Thanks!

Sorry for the multiple replies...it kept giving me an error, but I guess it
worked.

I think I thought of a way to find out who rang in first. If I can get a
text box on the PPT slide, I can just have each team assigned to a letter on
the keyboard. Then you can just look at the text box to see who rang in
first :) I'm still working on the specifics.

Thanks for the reply, too, Bill.
