Not sure if this is the right newgroup but:

I have recently bought a laptop with 1.9ghz Dual Core processor and ATI
Radeon X1200 graphics card.

How likely is it I could run a '3d intensive' game on this laptop?

e.g. Enemy Territory requires a 2.8ghz processor and ATI gfx. Will a dual
core 1.9 processor still be able to run this?

Thanks,
Steve.

Does dual 1.9 processors mean I have 3.8ghz of processing power then?

Am I able to upgrade the gfx in a laptop or how do I found out if I can?

Thanks,
Steve.

ET would work, but barely. You surely won't be fragging anyone of basic
skills with it.

I have a similar system, the processor runs at 2.3ghz however, and I can
run Half-Life Source games at low resolution with most extras turned off at
a respectable level.

If you want to game on a laptop invest in a machine with a dedicated video
card instead of an integrated one. Just about everyone makes a "gaming"
laptop, and they usually don't cost that much more than what you got there.

ET's 2.8ghz requirement may refer to single core, a 1.9ghz core 2 duo may
be enough to run the game.

Might check to see what video card is minimum and recommended, lots of
games publish specific ATi and nVidia model numbers. That might help.

For whatever it's worth Crysis runs faster on a 2Ghz AMD single core than it
does on a 1.8Ghz Intel Dual core.
(And, the dual core has a memory buss speed at least 3x the single core.)
One telling difference is shared video memory on the dual core and dedicated
video memory on the single core.

Seems some of the newer games require 3Ghz or better with high end video to
work properly.
With all the warts, XP SP1a seems to be faster than XP SP 3, if the game
will run on SP1a.
