Wendy

I just purchased a new PC with XP installed, and all of
my kids games are not compatable. Is there a fix I can
download any where ? Any help will be appreciated

Hi Wendy,

Use XP's compatibility mode to install or play your kid's games.

To install a program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode, hold
down SHIFT as you insert the game CD, use My Computer to browse
to the setup program, and then skip down to step 1 in the list below:

To run an installed program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode,
first right click the program and "Send To..." / Desktop (create shortcut).

1.. Right click on the shortcut to the program.
2.. Click on Properties.
3.. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4.. Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select one of these:
a.. Windows 95
b.. Windows 98
c.. Windows NT 4
d.. Windows 2000
5.. Under Display settings, check mark the mode that you think that is best:
a.. Run in 256 colors.
b.. Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution.
c.. Disable visual themes.

Click on Apply.Click on Ok.Double click on the program.

Wendy, we need more information like which version of Windows XP you're
running and which games. It is really difficult to ascertain what the
problem is since you gave no indication.

Try this information:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307091 (about
Limited vs. Administrator enabled accounts), and
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...et/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/lgcyapps.asp
(how to get older programs installed). If you have further problems, please
post back with additional information.

Another suggestion, since you say this is a new computer: Don't trust the
manufacturer to have to latest drivers installed for your system. Do a
little homework, figure out which graphics and sound cards you have, and
visit the web site of those manufacturers to the lasted versions of the
appropriate drivers. Also check the computer web site to see if they have
any updates for the BIOS and/or motherboard. Just because the system is new
to you doesn't mean it if fully updated.
