ok,here's the problem:all of my games-nba live 2004,fifa football 2004,need for speed underground,.... are crashing to the desktop without any error.on some forum (i don't remember which one) i read that i should try how stable my system is by starting 3dmark 2001 se or 3dmark 2003 and leaving it to play whole night.if the program doesn't crash,my system is very stable if it does,it isnt stable.well, the 3dmark crashed.first night the bsod showed up it said something like ntfs.sys.second night it just crashed to the desktop (like my games do).my system:amd athlonxp 2000+,msi geforce4 ti 4200,nforce2,2x256mb ram (one at 333mhz and other at 400mhz),xp professional.maybe i have something wrong in bios.anyway i hope you can help me.i would appreciate it.thanks in advance.

Hi El-HeFFe,

Sounds like you also suspect that your mismatched RAM could be a
factor in this problem, and you're probably right. Test again using only
one stick of RAM. If there's no crash, we've found the problem! :-)

i tested 1 ram stick at a time already.i don't think its a hardware problem.my hardware works great.the computer repairman tested all of the components and they work.he tested it on monday when i bought myself a nforce2 motherboard.i think it should be software or bios problem.but which software?by the way i have a 250w cooler.

have you tried overclocking your video card/cpu? if so bring it back down a bit. it sounds like your cpu is simply getting too hot. or you might try upping the voltage to the cpu/memory so it wont crash as much. but keep in mind doing that will bring up temps even more.

i didnt overclock it.how can up the voltage to cpu/memory?so in both ways i need better cooler?i have 250w cooler now.that isnt enough is it?

Hi El-HeFFe,

If you think it's a software issue, click Start / Run / msconfig
click on the Startup Tab and Disable all. Test and post back. :-)

El-HeFFe,
Your latest post mentioned a 250w power supply. Most nforce2, under
hardware monitoring in the BIOS, will show you the voltages you motherboard
is receiving from the power supply. Make sure the +3.3v/5v/12v are all with
in .2v and the CPU is within .1v. If you see them deviate much more then
that it's quite likely this is your problem.

If you send me the 5-10 most recent minidumps located at c:\windows\minidump
to (e-mail address removed) I will analyze them and get back to you with what I
find. Hopefully I will be able to point you to a fix for your problem(s).

ok,yesterday i tried to run 3d mark 2001 se for the whole night again, but in 90 minutes it crashed three times.first it just crashed to the desktop, then the bsod showed up it said nv4_disp.dll then the other time it said something like ntfs.sys stop:0x00000024 (0x001902f90,0xf097a438,0xf09f138,0xf80ce63).whats wrong?please help

Athlon CPU temp runs a little lower then the actual reading however if it's
even close to 70c this is your problem. You want to be running below 55c
and I would expect the ambient case temperature to be around 30-40c unless
you are experiencing 30c+ weather. Check to make sure you have fans at the
bottom case brining air into the case and fans at the top of the case
blowing air out of the case.

As for your voltages everything looks good but your Vcore. It should be
running 1.65v this could be part of the reason your CPU is so hot. Do you
have thermal compound between your CPU and heatsink? Is the CPU fan rated
for Athlons?

I took a closer look at your Voltages and didn't do the math in my head
right the first time. I'm worried about the +3.3v and +/-12v so the new
power supply you order was a good idea. :)
