Hello,

What are the games that are crashing? Are they games that require DX10 or
DX9? In most cases games need DX 9 (that's they reason they work fine on
XP), so you will have to install DirectX 9 in order for them to work
properly.

There could be other reasons the games aren't working, but Rishi has a
point, you should go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx and download the
latest directx (Vista doesn't come with a lot of DirectX 9 files).

Other than that do a search in these newsgroups, chances are someone has
talked about your game already, i'm sure you can find a solution if you just
poke around.

Without much information to go on, its difficult to troubleshoot and diagnose
each problematic game.

- what game, please post the names.
- are you sure they are windows vista compatible?
- try installing them by running the setup in compatibility mode on
windows XP SP2.
- reinstall the video card drivers.
- try a lower resolution

2 of the games are XP (Sid Meiers railroads (new Version, DX9), Hotel Giant,
DX8) and 1 game is XP but with Vista Compatable ( Sim City 3000 UK edition,
DX7).

i will try your other suggestions

i have downloaded DX9 but still no joy. Its not that the games will not
install then run, they do, they can go for hours, but they will still crash.
