Joe

I have this idea but I am unsure if it can be carried out.

I want to know is this possible.
can I use remote desktop to play games. I tried it loads
of time and it never works. Is there some settings or
something I can get to allow me to play games remotly
using remote desktop.

Also I was thinin I have a few outdated pc's lying around
could get a Big Powerfull Server and use windows 2000
server os to connect all my outdated pc's and use the
graphics and power to be shared between the old pc's to
allow them to play games on. Bit like remote deskttop but
with muliple users connect to the server and playing
remote games.

Depends on what type of game you want to run... Graphic intensive
games will have very poor performance due to the slowness of the
graphical component of remote desktop (just like the poor performance
of full motion video over RD in a LAN environment).

As an example, take a look at Alex's experience in running Quake over

Let me give you an example. Lets say Mircrosoft Age of
Empires, this game requries hardly any graphics memory
maybe 8MB in all, anyway and we want to allow it to be
played on the server and client 1. So the server is very
high spec so we talking a top notch graphics card ati
256mb radeon, or similar and 1 gig of DDR 400mhz ram, 3
gig cpu, amazing specs, to be shared between 2 computers
not 20 just 2.
That would be ok wouldn't it.

I mean even if you looked at it this way since there is
only 2 computer involved. The hardware we could roughly
work out like this everything is gonna be half. 1.5 gig
cpu, 512 Ram, 128mb Graphics etc.

Would this work.???

Also is the graphical content of terminal services better
than that of remote desktop or is the grpahics the same.

Even Age of Empires would be slow due to the graphic performance.
When using a Remote Desktop connection, it uses a virtual graphics
card, not the one you use in your machine...

Age of Kings, for instance, is unplayable unless you have a clean
100BaseT or even gigabit ethernet...

Jeffory but it is possible right, by the way I got a
1000mbit switch so there is plenty of bandwidth. Put it
tis way I can run a film and it will come out perfect like
I was on that computer watching it, with excellent quality
and no loss of graphics. So tell me is what I am planning
possible. About games

Hardware is not a problem

I want to know is this possible.
