I just got a gamepad for my laptop, but anytime I try to
chose a controller it says that my gameport driver is
not properly configured. being a complete moron, I don't
know how to fix it, any suggestions?

No one is a complete moron, they just haven't had a chance to learn. A
gameport is a 15 pin connector that is generally on sound cards. Some of the
newer soundcards do not have them and almost all laptops I know of don't
have them either. Since you seem to be interested in playing on your laptop
I would suggest trying to return the gamepad you got at the place of
purchase and exchange it for a gamepad that has a USB connector. Most
laptops are going to have USB unless they are fairly old. I would make sure
you have a USB connector and then do an exchange for a USB gamepad. The USB
gamepads are more reliable any way and shouldn't cost too much.

Great advice Joshua, and thank you for having the patience
to clear up that issue in the other newsgroup. Hopefully the
post will be taken as fact by them considering your signature. ;-)

Cheers!
Jimmy.
