Game won't Launch without wireless connection active

I have a strangle problem that I can't seem to resolve. I have an HP laptop (3month old) with a D-Link wireless adaptor that connect to a Dlink wireless router. My other PC is a Dell and it is connect to the router and has two printers attached (to the Dell). I installed James Bond Nightfire on the laptop and it works just fine as long as the wireless connect is active. If I start the machine without the network connection the game will not launch. If I plug the card in, then the game works. I had a similar problems with Backyard Baseball and I discovered that if I created a local printer for the laptop and made it the default printer, then that program launched without having to have the wireless connection active. I assume that the print spooler was busy trying to intialize the networked printer and that was causing the game failure. It would seem that there is some process that is required to launch for network usage that inhibits the launching of my game. As far as the network goes, I have simple file/printer sharing active and I am using Alarmzone to "trust" the two machines. And, obviously, this game is not networked, I installed it stand alone so I could take it with me, but it only works when I can connect to my LAN
Suggestions

Strange issue, Wes. Have you tried installing it without any LAN active on
the laptop?

Chris:
Yes, I installed it without the LAN active, and I still
have the problems. I have since discovered that the
problem is more intermittant than I first thought. I have
been successful without the LAN active and unsuccessful
with the LAN active, so it must be another issue. When I
launch the program, just before the splash screen comes
up, the window drops to the task bar. Selecting and re-
selecting the task bar icon momentarily brings the window
back up (totally black), but immediately collapses to the
task bar. If I reboot, I am sometimes successful. I have
ensured that no other apps are running, except Norton
Antivirus and ZoneAlarm.

I'd wager a cup of coffee that if you temporarily uninstall both Norton and
ZA, then install, you'll have success. Both Symantec products and ZA
continue to run in the background even if you "exit" from the Systray icon.

Use a Restore Point from a couple days ago to clear things out, then
uninstall those two and try the installation again.
