I have an HP ze5385ca notebook running WinXP home
edition. I create an administrator account, which I used
to install and configure a DLink wireless router. My
notebook is using a wireless card. I have a Dell
running WinME connected directly to the router. I have
configured file sharing (of specific directories) and
printer sharing. ZoneAlarm is installed on both computers
and the router is setup within the trusted zone, thereby
allowing the sharing of files and printers. Subsequently,
I installed a game Backyard Baseball 2003 (WinXP
compliant) using my administrator account. The program
runs within my account but will not run in a limited user
account. I created a new administrator account and the
program will not run from this account either. This
error message (.sputm90r has encountered a problem...send
report to Microsoft...) occurs in all accounts other than
the one that I installed the program with. Further
information on the error makes reference to the file
hpzntp04.dll. When I installed the program, I ensured
that I was not connected my LAN. Here's the strange part,
when I have my wireless connection active to the router,
the program will run in other accounts without error
messages.

Please do not repost a post where someone has tried to help you already!
Chris H. had already posted a reply to your previous post..

Anyway, here is more info in trying to help you.

On the account you are using, close all open applications (A/V, download
manager, scanning, printer control etc) before installing the game.

Thanks Yves. I cannot find the reply from Chris H. nor
the original post. That was why I reposted.
When you say "the account that you are using" do you mean
the account that I installed with or the account that I
wish to run the program from?

Sorry for reposting this folks. I honestly do not see the
original, nor the reply from Chris H. Do you see it?

Chris H:
I cannot find your reply to original posting. Please re-
reply, as it would greatly be appreciated. Something is
goofy with the forum, because the search engine does find
any messages with my name in the sender criteria....

Thanks Chris. I have read about the problems with games
running in limited user accounts needing to write to
directories that are reserved for admin accounts. Here's
a good tutorial on the issue for those interested:

and

This was not my problem as I discovered last night. The
problem was that the game was trying to initialize the
default printer, which unfortunately was a network
printer. When I was connected to the network, the game
loaded and ran. When the laptop was not connected to the
network, the error sputm90r was given. I installed a
bogus local printer, made it the default in the limited
user account, disconnected from the network and voila the
game works! Go figure. What do people who aren't as
persistant about solutions as I am do?

ROFLOL! Good for you, Wes. That's really strange it is trying to hook up
with a printer, but I'm glad you worked it through. This is one solution to
file away for future reference. Thanks for sticking with it.
