I have several games (all Activision) that will not change or save the
settings. Control settings, Resolution, Sound, all cannot be changed from
the default settings. They worked in the past but do not now. One game went
through the whole install process normally and when finished nothing was
written to the hard drive, yet it has worked normally in the past. So far
all are Activision games (Ultimate Spiderman, Tony Hawk, True crime) Any
Ideas?????

Let's try a couple of things to get that working for you again:

1. Startup your system in SAFE MODE by pressing F8 repeatedly
while your system is booting up after you've shut down your system

2. Log in with an account you've created as a "Computer Administrator"
account that you'll use to play the game. (Don't use a Limited account)

There is only one user set up on this computer and it is the Administrator. The wierd thing about it is it only happens with certain programs that have worked in the past. They all have been uninstalled and reinstalled and at this point I think they are all from Activision. I don't think it is a hardware problem as most everthing else is fine. I looked in the registry under Activision. Nothing stood out but I am not all that familiar with the registry so I don't know what I was looking for. I also checked the game ini. files and nothing looked abnormal there. None of the game files are set as read only. Is there another file/files I could check for read only attributes or something in the registry I could check?

Hi BWC,

When you uninstalled the games, did you reinstall them to the
same directory as you did before? If so, I would recommend
installing them to another drive / partition / directory as a test.
