Rollercoaster tycoon is too fast! I went from a 433 celeron to a 2.4ghz
P4 512ram and the peeps are moving faster than ever. Using Win98SE on
asus p4p800. Any ideas on what's up? It just looks like they are going
way too fast. Anyone else have this situation? I don't mind my other
apps running faster but not my peeps!

I don't overclock.

Weird. I'd think a game that modern would have gotten that right. Is there
an option in there somewhere for speed? For older games there is a utility
called "slowdown" or something like that, but I think it might only work on
DOS. Again, it's hard to believe a Windows game got that wrong.

Have a look on google for a program called CPU Killer, it doesnt 'kill' your
cpu
it just slows it down, its shareware and you can use it for 20 minutes each
execution
of the program, in the past I used the one where you didnt have to install
it, v1.2 I think.

Did you install the program on a new computer or did the installation remain
the same? i.e. did you just move the old hard drive to the new MB? If so the
program might be designed to determine the system's speed at installation
time only and still be assuming that it is running on the old dog system.

I installed it fresh on my formatted win98SE hard drive. Wanted to start
out with a nice clean registry. But when I used the no CD patch, maybe
that did something. I guess I'll have to maybe play with it again but
really don't want to since it took so long to get that patch to install
correctly.

There is a little freeware program called "M0-Slo" that works great for
these types of problems. Do a Google search for it.

Yes, that would be my first suspicion.

If it's dos game running in DOS then "Moslow" can work or you can try
"slowdown" that is free and has more options than Moslow and you can
get it here http://members.aol.com/bretjohn/ (the author claims this
program will work in windows too) I have used it and found it to work
well I never tested to see if it would work in windows though.

If you are running in Windows then I have used this program and it
works very well for me it is very simple to use and it is free.
ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/general/turbo.exe

hope this helps

Check out this Microsoft article.

I just had the same thing happen to me with a different game. After
building a 2.6GHz system.
