Hi:

Does someone have the "Game of LIFE" as some kind of JAVA application (such
as will run with IE.)

The "game" I am talking about is just a matrix of cells with rules by which
new cells are populated with "life" and the "life" in other cells ceases to
exist.

That's John Conway's Game of Life, using cellular automata. This site has
versions for Windows, Linux, and Macs.

Not sure if this is the game you mean, but from the description it
sounds like it. Lifegen.exe.
