Hello. In this case you'll probably need to disable some of Vista's
security features, namely UAC, this can be done in Control Panel -> Users ->
Turn User Account Control on or off.

You indicated using the Program Compatibility Wizard to try to resolve your
issue. Did you do the following ?
(1) Browse to the "Dark Star One" folder and find the .exe file.
(2) Right click the file and choose Properties
(3) Select the Security tab
(4) Highlight "Authenticated Users" and click Edit.
(5) Under "Permissions for Authenticated Users", for full control check the
"Allow" selection box and click Apply.
(6) Restart and try to run the game.

If you have already tried this approach, you could try uninstalling Dark
Star and performing the same procedure with the wiizard on the game's "setup
application" prior to the install.

hi tacwalker
thanks for the help but still got a prob ,, now i get error message 577
tages drivers at the end of the install .. with the wizard i authentiated
users for the exe setup file and the 2 tages driver files .. if i am correct
the tages are a security exe , if so could there be a conflict with vista and
these files ??
thanks again for your help

Have you tried as mentioned go to the .exe right click, properties, then
click on the compatibility tab.

Change it to XP service pak 2 and Run Program as adm.

Then click button at bottom that says "Show settings for all users" and
change these to the same. XP service pak 2 and Run Program as adm

I did this both for install and to play games. It works for Sims 2.

good luck,

Mark
